Pandu grew up surrounded by women in a brothel with his mother who was a sex worker.  As a young boy he looked like a girl as he wore his hair long.  After loosing her other 10 children, Pandu’s mother prayed to Yellamma promising to dedicate him as a Jogappa if the goddess would keep him alive.
